Game Overview

Scaedumar is a top-down survival game prototype about reading terrain before committing the body to it.

The player is not a chosen hero or an abstract manager. They are a person moving through a material world where land, weather, animals, tools, memory, hunger, thirst, fatigue, and distance all press on the next decision.

Core Idea

Read the land. Trace a route. Spend time and condition only when the choice is worth it.

The current prototype focuses on a small but important loop:

  1. Look at nearby ground.
  2. Inspect signs such as wetness, terrain, plants, tracks, and known land.
  3. Trace a route before moving.
  4. Spend time, hydration, nutrition, and fatigue through travel or work.
  5. Remember what the ground has taught you.

Current Features

  • Top-down terrain rendering from authored map textures.
  • Pathfinding previews before committed travel.
  • Inspect overlays for terrain, resources, tracks, and knowledge.
  • Survival condition pressure from fatigue, hydration, and nutrition.
  • Gathering, water search, rest, hunting, and scouting prototype activities.
  • Field notes and encounter text shared with the in-game wiki.

What Makes It Different

Scaedumar treats information as something earned by contact.

The map is not only a backdrop. Slope, water, height, wetness, tracks, and visibility affect what the player can trust. Movement is not just position change; it is time, cost, exposure, and memory.
